This insane new shot claims to give women better orgasms

There is a shot on the market that claims to give women better orgasms. And while the ingredient makes sense when it comes to biology, it is still totally weird and interesting.

The secret ingredient is a woman’s own blood, shot with a needle into her clitoris.

While this sounds sci-fi scary to a lot of us, many women have trouble achieving orgasm on their own, and this could seriously help a lot of people out.

The “O-shot” was invented (like all awesome things) kind of on accident by Dr. Charles Runels. The story goes that he had been injecting his own penis with blood to experience stronger erections for a while (a little terrifying, but good for him), when his partner asked that he do the same for her clitoris on Valentine’s Day. The procedure garnered awesome results, and ever since then (2011), Runels has been offering the procedure at his office.

The procedure can be performed by Runels and by about 500 doctors that he’s trained over the years. He estimates that it has about an 85% success rate in his patients. His patients who have had success with it endorse it heavily. Some said that past trauma such as rape or abuse prevented them from having regular orgasms, and the “O-shot” finally helped them achieve happy sex lives. It has also been reportedly helpful to women who are going through menopause and those who experience dryness during sex.

There is also apparently zero healing time, which is pretty awesome.

There are some critics the “O-shot.” According to The Guardian, the procedure is currently not approved by the FDA. Some claim success with the procedure is the result of a placebo effect, and that there are not truly any real benefits.

The procedure nonetheless has a lot of fans. YourTango writer Rebecca Jane Stokes, who has personally tried the procedure, writes:

“If the O-Shot had such a strong effect on me (and it's continued to rock my sex life), then I can't even begin to imagine what a godsend it must be for people suffering from sexual dysfunction who are in need of help.

While truthfully, the idea of putting a needle anywhere near our privates is a little cringeworthy, we’re glad that this procedure is available to help the women who need it and that the medical community is paying attention to the female orgasm for a change!
