Oprah really doesn’t care that Trump hate-tweeted her
As bummed as we are to admit it, Oprah has officially said she’s not planning to run for president. But if she did, she’d certainly have the required diplomatic disposition down. The former Queen of Talk showcased her calm, cool demeanor during a recent appearance on The Ellen Show when she addressed that negative tweet President Donald Trump posted about her.
First, let’s rewind a second: On February 18th, Trump took to Twitter to insult a segment Winfrey had done for 60 Minutes. The footage in question featured Winfrey interviewing Michigan voters and Trump, apparently, was not feeling it. In addition to calling Winfrey’s interview questions on the show “biased and slanted,” the president said she’d gotten her facts wrong and was “very insecure.” He also referenced the talk about some people wanting Oprah to run for office, writing he hopes she does “so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others.”

DeGeneres broached the topic, and asked Oprah how the tweet made her feel.
In response, Oprah shrugged, clearly exasperated:
"I don’t like giving negativity power, so I just thought, what? What I actually really did was I went back and looked at the tape to see if there was any place that that could be true. Did I feel like...it was slanted or biased?"
She went on to say that she actually took measures to make sure the segment was balanced during the production process and that there was a panel of viewers who watched the piece to see if it was fair (they decided it was). Even still, Oprah took the president’s complaints as an opportunity to double-check that everything was done properly. “I was working very hard to do the opposite of what I was hate-tweeted about, so, it’s okay,” she told DeGeneres.

Oprah has a stellar track record of conveying grace under pressure (one more reason she should really reconsider the whole POTUS thing, in our opinion), and this instance is no different. As she told us when she was bringing down the house at this year’s Golden Globes, “Speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.” Trump may have been trying to make her doubt herself, but in speaking her truth about the situation, Oprah again showed us her confidence and resolve.
