Oprah gave Mindy Kaling the most *extra* baby gift ever

If you’re friends with Oprah, you certainly live a #blessed life. Not that we’d know, since we’re not, like, close with Oprah…nor have we ever hung out with Oprah…nor have we even met Oprah. But in our imagination we definitely are best friends with Oprah, and we can just imagine how #blessed our lives would be with her by our side. She’s one of the most powerful, inspirational women in the world and currently about to star in A Wrinkle In Time, and, as if she couldn’t get any more legendary, it turns out that she gives the most extra gifts to her friends.

Mindy Kaling revealed during the press tour for A Wrinkle In Time that her co-star and new best friend Oprah dropped the mic by giving her the most jaw-dropping, “amazing” gift ever for her daughter Katherine, who Mindy welcomed in December.

“I got a call from my assistant,” Kaling told USA Today. “She said, ‘Oprah’s assistant contacted me, she’d like to drop off a present.’ I’m thinking, that’s so nice, like, probably flowers. I had a kid, I’m a single mom. That’s really nice Oprah remembered.”

But Oprah doesn’t have time for such plebeian gifts. She’s literally Oprah. She’s gotta give an Oprah-level gift.

“Two men are going to be coming to your house, they said, with a U-Haul truck,” Kaling said. “All you want in life is to hear that two men in a U-Haul truck are coming to your house because Oprah sent them. I was supposed to go to work that day [but I was like], I gotta be here.”

Kaling continued to tell her story while Oprah just nodded and added, “True.”

“They arrived with a hand-carved bookcase, prettier than any professional dollhouse you had ever seen that contained a hundred of the classic essential books in children’s literature,” Kaling revealed. “And I held my baby up to it and I said, ‘Did you see what Miss Winfrey did for you?’ Each book has ‘Katherine’s Book Club’ on it.”

While anyone would give an arm or leg for their firstborn child to receive a gift like that (and from Oprah, no less), apparently, the gift didn’t quite meet Oprah’s standards. “It wasn’t as perfect as I wanted it to be,” Winfrey said. Apparently she wanted the bookcase to look like the treehouse that Kaling’s character Mrs. Who from Wrinkle in Time lives in.

“Now it only looks like a beautiful castle,” Kaling joked.

“It was the best I could do,” Winfrey added. Hey, Oprah, we will gladly take all your less-than-perfect gifts if you’re looking to add anyone to your gift-giving list. The best you can do is more than good enough for us.
