Opening Ceremony’s crazy gift guide includes a $5K lunch with Jonah Hill and Spike Jonze

Sharing gifts around the holidays is, in general, a lovely tradition. Most loved ones don’t expect presents that are expensive or over-the-top, only thoughtful and from the heart. But sometimes, recommendations from experts can be a liiitle bit on the peculiar side. Case in point: Opening Ceremony’s “Crazy” holiday gift guide, which includes a $5,500 lunch with actor Jonah Hill and director Spike Jonze.

To be fair, the guide is called “crazy,” so we knew what we were getting into when we clicked on it. But as with Gwyneth Paltrow’s extravagant Goop gift guide, we were still scratching our heads and cry-laughing over some of the items on the list.

Take, for instance, the $1,500 “Red Wine Bath Experience for Two.”

The ~experience~ takes place in New York City and includes Opening Ceremony embroidered robes, and it promises to “leave you rejuvenated and ready for the New Year.” You’ll soak in water “enriched with the beautifying antioxidants of grapes from the Matarromera winery in Spain” and will surely come out looking and feeling like new person (or something like that).

There’s also a $1,500 Skype session with Hollywood Medium host Tyler Henry, the 20-year-old TV personality who communicates with the dearly departed.

This “gift experience” will allow your recipient to speak with Tyler over Skype for one hour, presumably to communicate with a deceased loved one.

And then of course there’s that lunch with Spike and Jonah.

This one’s actually an auction benefitting 826NYC, “a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 in strengthening their writing skills,” with a minimum bid of $5,500. Jonah and Spike will pick their fave restaurant in New York for lunch with the winner — but the lucky diner is expressly forbidden from pitching any ideas to the pair.

What a time to be alive!
