“The Wonder Years” Cast Reunites On Twitter! Rejoice!
If you’re a child of the 80’s and 90’s, it’s hard to hear the words “The Wonder Years” without being GOBSMACKED by FEELINGS. I was in elementary school when the series ended its 6 season run in 1993 and I remember watching the series finale with my parents and I remember it being a BIG DEAL. In the years since, so many shows have set out to be “The Next Wonder Years” (“Freaks and Geeks” bless its weird little heart, came the closest in terms of capturing an era through the coming of age lens) but no other show has dethroned the period-piece family dramedy. I’m not sure this show can be dethroned. “The Wonder Years” is a “West Wing,” a “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” it’s not just a show people watch when its on, it’s a show fans champion for life.
That’s why it was SO EXCITING to get just tiny teaspoon-sized serving of more “Wonder Years” a few days ago when the Kevin and the Arnold family (plus Kevin’s BFF Paul and One True Love Winnie, natch and natch) reunited to take selfies to promote “The Wonder Years” DVD release, which is PERFECT for those like my dad who inexplicably fear internet streaming. Note: You can also watch every episode of “The Wonder Years” on Netflix)
Here’s the classic “Wonder Years” version of “Ellen And As Many Celebrities At The Oscars That Can Fit Into The Frame” selfie:
And the Arnolds around a recreation of their kitchen table:
Here’s another shot with everyone save DAD (Jack Lauria):
And Josh Saviano and Danica McKellar selfie-snuggling, which is all fine and well, but where is the selfie of Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper all grown up and making out?!
In addition to a Kevin/Winnie snuggle-selfie, I would have also been down for silly faces at the kitchen table and Wayne giving Kevin a noogie or wet willie or both at the SAME TIME. I obviously should have been in charge of this selfie shoot just like I should be in charge of most things on Planet Earth. Still, I have to be grateful for what selfies we did get and was all kinds of jazzed to take this quick stroll down Nostalgia Lane.
Any other “Wonder Years” fans in the house? Was it as fun for you as it was for me to see the band back together? Doesn’t everyone look EXACTLY THE SAME?
