Yikes: We have some bummer news about One Direction’s hiatus

Today is a super exciting day in the One Direction community. The boys’ long-awaited fifth album, Made In The A.M., is finally available on iTunes (and everywhere else). It’s the perfect way to kick-off your weekend, so I feel kind of bad being the bearer of what sounds like some pretty bummer news. That one-year hiatus the band is taking? Turns out it might be TWO.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, Liam Payne off-handedly mentioned the news while talking about his plans for the upcoming break:

Ex-squeeze me? “Two years off”? Normally, we’d convince ourselves that it was a mistake, that Payne simply misspoke in the heat of the moment. But no. He said it twice:

Obviously, it sounds like this extended break is a good thing, and the boys definitely deserve it after all their hard work. We just don’t know what we’re going to do for two years without their new music. Listen to Made In The A.M. on repeat? Sounds like a plan to me.
