One Direction rapped the ‘Fresh Prince’ theme and it was amazing

Oh, One Direction. How we’ll miss you when you take your hiatus. Last night, everyone’s favorite boy band surprised their audience at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA when they covered a truly classic song: The theme from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Do I smell their next single?

Will Smith, the original singer of the hit tune, would be proud as these swoopy-haired Brits rocked out to the lyrics in front of a screaming crowd. Despite that, this seemed to be one of the more informal moments of the concert, with the boys chatting on stage before deciding to give the song a go.

Later, Niall joked that he was planning on running for president in 2020, referencing Kanye’s speech at MTV’s Video Music Awards last weekend. Perhaps there will be a West/Horan ticket? They’d certainly have my vote.

This is one of many stops for the group, who are will be on tour all the way until the end of October. Maybe this is their Taylor Swift kind of way of keeping their tour material fresh. We’re pretty excited to see what other surprises they may have up their sleeves as the tour wraps up.

It’s also worth noting that this current tour is possibly the band’s last. One Direction, who got their start on X-Factor back in 2010, announced last month that they’d be taking a long hiatus starting in March 2016. According to the band, they decided to take a break  so the individual members can take the time to work on personal projects. Okay, that sounds legit — but once they’ve done that, we hope to see them back on stage together ASAP.
