One Direction played the most hilarious game of dodgeball with James Corden

One Direction just got a new member … of their dodgeball team. The boy band participated in a hilarious skit on The Late Late Show with James Corden where they insisted that the only reason they pursued international fame was so they could play professional dodgeball. Bet fans didn’t see that one coming.

The hysterical video segment shows Into the Woods star James Corden coaching Harry, Niall, Louis, and Liam for their first ever dodgeball match. His methods are questionable. He chucks red rubber balls at the boys as they wheelbarrow each other around the court, and shouts at them in the locker room. “The Beatles were nothing until they won at dodgeball,” he says. “The Rolling Stones were nothing until they won at dodgeball.”

“Corden’s Angels,” the dodgeball dream team made of four parts 1D boys and one part comedic genius late night host, makes an epic entrance to their first game wearing matching red and white jerseys, itty bitty shorts, and knee socks. Corden says their rival team (a group of tough-lookin’ ladies, aptly named “The Ball Busters”) said the guys look like they stepped out of “High School the Musical.” We’re not going to disagree on that one, but the uniforms are adorable.

The boys try their darndest, but don’t come out on top. At one point, Harry “takes one right to the styles.” The announcer says, “He won’t have any trouble hitting the high notes after that one.”
