Don’t freak out, but Regina has a totally different name in “Once Upon a Time” Season 7
Alert, Storybrooke fans! Some familiar faces will be coming back to Once Upon a Time this season — but they’ll be returning with some very different identities.
There’s lots to process here, so let’s start with Regina (Lana Parrilla).
Parrilla revealed during the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour this weekend that her character will be getting a new identity and a different name (though she didn’t reveal the name, alas).
I’m no longer in pantsuits, Parrilla said. “I’m in denim and rock T-shirts. When we meet her, this other version of Regina, she’s working in a bar. She’s a bar owner. She’s a little rough around the edges…This version feels really different. She’s no longer in charge."
Parrilla added that this new version of Regina won’t recognize Adult Henry in the cursed world (which now takes place in Seattle’s Hyperion Heights), but we will see the pair interact in the fairytale world.
“We actually meet, we reunite after many years in a flashback,” she explained. “Regina has not seen this grown man ever before. So she’s taken back by that and is finding their relationship now that he’s no longer this little boy.”
Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) is also getting a character makeover, and will play a Seattle cop at the start of the season.
"He’s different from any of the other 10 different Hooks that I’ve played. I describe that there’s a sense of loss there in the guy and he just doesn’t know what it is that’s missing," O’Donoghue said. "He’s striving in some way to find who he is still, yet the Hook that we meet is trying to be the best uniform cop that he can be and do the right thing, but as is the case on Once Upon a Time, it’s more complicated than that.
Lastly, Rumple (Robert Carlyle) will have a new persona in the cursed world as well, though details on that are being kept sealed shut. We just know that he will still have a bit of “menace and mystery” to him and will be tangled up in “many of the goings on in this neighborhood in Seattle.”
We cannot WAIT to meet all these new(ish) characters in the Season 7 premiere. Patiently tapping our toes until October 6th.
