OMG: This kitten survived a 300-mile journey on the bumper of a car
Cats often like to take naps in wheel wells and bumpers of cars — they’re safe and warm, and protected from the elements, so it only makes sense. We can only imagine that’s what this little kitten was doing when Lieutenant Nick Grimmer, a Navy helicopter pilot, drove to work at a naval base the other day.
He’d driven 300 miles to the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose the day before when he heard a faint meowing from the bumper of his BMW. He went to his car to investigate. Here’s what he said, on the Royal Navy website:
The squadron immediately called the little kitten Tigger, partially because of the strong resemblance to their helicopters. Obviously, they grew instantly fond of him. They’re looking for his owners, and Grimmer said about the search, “Tigger must have an owner somewhere between here and Birmingham and we are keen to locate them. I instructed my team to launch ‘Operation Tiger Kitten’. With the help of social media they are hoping to be ‘mission complete’ by the end of the week.”
It’s good to know that they’re taking it seriously, but case they don’t find them, they seem more than happy to adopt the little guy as a sort of mascot — it seems as though he’d be in great hands with Grimmer and the rest of the crew.
