OMG: This phone case lets you turn your smartphone into a Game Boy

Everyone knows by now that the ’90s are making a huge comeback. People are wearing chokers, jelly sandals, and re-watching our fave shows from our fave decade all over again — nostalgia is REAL with our generation, and it’s not going anywhere. One thing we all miss (seriously, it’s virtually unanimous) is the Game Boy, and it looks like we’ll be able to turn our smartphones into Game Boys very, very soon.

This phone case, made by Hyperkin, was teased on Reddit a while back, but it looks like it’s now something we can actually get our hands on. While smartphones are great, we all miss the touch of those sweet, sweet Game Boy buttons — it makes gaming that much more fun when you can actually FEEL what you’re doing.

On the Hyperkin site, it says, “It will be compatible with Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges. Included in the kit is an open source serial app and firmware, which will enable developers of all kinds to advance Hyperkin’s current build toward a retail-ready model.” That sounds AMAZING, and we can’t wait to get our hands on one. The downside: it’s currently only available for Android phones, but hopefully, they’re working hard to get an iPhone model available for market soon, too.

You can now preorder the phone case on Hyperkin Lab’s website for a cool $59.99, with an expected ship date of December 1, 2016.
