Olivia Wilde gets how hard it is to work out right after you had a baby

The media is obsessed with celebrity moms and their “post-baby” bodies. There’s an unspoken expectation that mothers should bounce back, so to speak, after they’ve given birth — as if that’s the thing that’s most important to focus on right after you’ve brought new life into the world. When celebrities start to go back to their normal routine after the birth, we usually see cute selfies of them at the gym or with their personal trainer, looking as hot as ever. And we’re not here to say that’s not okay — but everyone’s postpartum journey is different.

Well, Olivia Wilde is here to give you a dose of reality, though. Because sometimes there isn’t anything particularly glamorous about working out right after you’ve had a baby — if that’s what you want to do, that is.

Her face is bright red, she’s got no make up on, and she’s clearly sweating her ass off. Oh, Olivia, let us count the ways we love you. She writes, “I needed to document the exact shade of holy-fuck-magenta my face turns after getting my ass kicked at @tracyandersonmethod.”

ICYMI, Olivia and her fiancé Jason Sudeikis welcomed their second chid, Daisy, into the world in October of last year, and they also have a son Otis, who was born in 2014. So Olivia is no stranger to living with the post-pregnancy body, and that’s why she’s not embarrassed to show how hard it is to workout after you’ve recently given birth. That it doesn’t just magically happen — it takes time, hard work, and resources. And we’re glad Olivia is being fairly transparent about that.

"I'm like a tomato with a human torso that is slowly but surely recovering from popping out a ten pound kiwi," she writes.

No photoshopping or filters here. Just hilarious mama Olivia, exactly the way she is. We’re here for it.
