Olivia Wilde is raising her son to be a feminist, and we LOVE that

Olivia Wilde is an awesome feminist. She believes that all women should be able to choose to be mothers, and that access to abortion should be available to women as a part of that choice. She doesn’t think women should compare themselves to other women, and sees the beauty in individuals, instead. Because she’s such an awesome feminist herself, it only makes sense she’d want to raise her children the same way — but she’s just started talking publicly about putting that theory into practice, and we are ALL ears.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Beauty, when she was asked about whether she’d teach her son about feminism and beauty standards, she said, “Absolutely! I hope to raise a child who values people for what’s within them and yet I hope he experiments with his own identity and who he wants to be. I look forward to helping him feel that type of confidence I felt when growing up.”

She later continued, “In terms of feminism, yes, I like to think he’s already a little feminist. And he is. He’s a really good guy. I want to promote the idea that the definition of feminism is equality and it’s something that’s not difficult to teach children because they are born with that sensibility. They are only taught to separate people and value them differently once they get older. Luckily, I’m just embracing the perspective he was born with.”

We love this parenting philosophy, and we’re so happy for Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis.
