Olivia Wilde stars in this eye-opening PSA about Down syndrome

Today, March 21st, is World Down Syndrome Day — and that’s exactly why Olivia Wilde is starring in a PSA that is so, so important.

The video, entitled “How Do You See Me,” is almost two minutes long, and for the first minute and a half, it features Olivia going through her day — hanging out with friends, jogging on the beach, doing laundry, and watching television with loved ones — while overlain with a narration by 19-year-old AnnaRose Rubright, a college student who has Down syndrome.

“This is how I see myself. I see myself as a daughter, a sister, and a best friend,” AnnaRose says. “As a person you can rely on. I see myself singing, dancing, and laughing until I cannot breathe. And also crying, sometimes. I see myself following my dreams, even if they are impossible. Especially because they’re impossible. I see myself as an ordinary person, with an important, meaningful, beautiful life.”

At the last moment, the camera pans over to AnnaRose, who says, “This is how I see myself. How do you see me?”

AnnaRose was happy to star alongside Olivia Wilde in the PSA, which was created by ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi for CoorDown, Italy’s national organization for people with Down syndrome. “I want people to try and respect people with Down syndrome and see how smart they are,” AnnaRose told ABC News.
