Olivia Wilde shows us how to make puffed sleeves work with a nude illusion dress
Take a second and think of your favorite dress. Is it gauzy, fluttering about when you twirl? Maybe it’s holographic and plays tricks in the light. Or maybe it’s little and black. Either way, a fun dress can change your day for the better. And no one knows this better than Olivia Wilde, who wore a stunning, sheer, and embellished Monique Lhuillier dress on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.
We’re pretty sure this is Olivia Wilde’s new favorite dress and once you see it, you’ll know why. It’s playful and elegant, aka the best of both worlds.
The long-sleeve dress features the lightest fabric that’s perfect for twirling and twisting. There’s an oversized black appliqué on the bust, with a turquoise pattern throughout. The details on the dress are just as striking: slightly flared wrists and puffed shoulders add even more ooh-la-la.
To complete this look, Olivia kept it simple. The actress pulled some of her short hair back, keeping the rest in soft curls. For makeup, she opted for glowing skin, arched brows, and a peach-stained lip. We love that Olivia made this dress the hero piece of her outfit, and let it do the talking.
This dress has a voice of its own, and so did Olivia on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. The actress, who’s currently staring in 1984 on Broadway, posted about how thankful she was to be able to share her voice. We’re thankful for Olivia and her inspiration — sartorial and otherwise.
