Olivia Wilde gave Jennifer Lawrence the sweetest gift after she got sick during “1984”
You’ve probably heard that Olivia Wilde’s play 1984 has left a few people sick. And whether or not it was the stomach flu or the graphic subject matter, Jennifer Lawrence threw up during a recent showing. Wilde handled the news like a pro. Obviously, she knows that Lawrence’s health is the most important part of the story.
That’s why we’re so glad that Wilde opened up about how she responded to the news. On a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live, she addressed the incident and said that she felt bad about what happened.
"Listen, she didn't need to apologize," Wilde said. "I felt so bad and I sent her some Matzah ball soup and some bagels and she feels much better."
As long as I have a play, Jennifer Lawrence has a place to puke. 🙌#honored #getwellsoon #iloveyou #1984onBarfway #spewbagsnotincluded

"She had the stomach flu, The poor thing walked in sick," Wilde clarified.
Even without the stomach flu, the show definitely has people feeling a bit ill.
In fact, some are even referring to it as the “scariest show on Broadway.”
"If 1984 is the scariest show on Broadway, that’s because… the world is scarier than it’s ever been." https://t.co/qtWFS6Nivp

Not only does it include extreme torture scenes, but effects like strobe lights and jackhammer sounds have made people feel a bit uneasy. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Wilde said that “[the show] allows you to empathize in a visceral way, and that means making the audience physically and emotionally uncomfortable.”
Wilde seemed sad to learn that Lawrence was actually scheduled to appear on Watch What Happens Live the same night she felt ill. But while Lawrence definitely had a few bummer days (and if you’ve ever had the stomach flu, you know it’s a legit bummer) we’re sure that the heartfelt gift of soup and bagels probably brightened her day.
