Olivia Wilde Opens Up About “Tough” Co-Parenting With Ex, Jason Sudeikis
The 'Don't Worry Darling' director is navigating life as a single parent.
Drama seems to be following Olivia Wilde wherever she goes these days. Along with the controversies surrounding her latest film, Don’t Worry Darling, the female director and actress has had a pretty rocky post-breakup with ex-fiance Jason Sudeikis, especially when it comes to co-parenting their children.
“It’s tough,” Wilde said during an interview this week on The Kelly Clarkson Show, reports Marie Claire UK. “Reshaping a family is tricky.”
Wilde is mom to two young kids, Otis, 8, and Daisy, 5, and tries to be as involved in their lives as possible. She has often been seen with them at local parks, and makes an effort to be with them at bedtime and breakfast, according to an interview she had with Variety.

Although it’s known that she and Sudeikis share the parental duties separately, for Wilde, being a single mom, even a celebrity one, still has its challenges.
Back in August, Wilde was served custody papers from her ex while onstage at a promotional event for her latest film, according to reporting from BBC.
A nasty tactic from a jealous ex meant to embarrass the star? Whether or not the time and place was intentional has not been disclosed, although reps for Sudeikis claim he only had a hand in the legal proceedings, not the way in which they’d be served.
A source close to Wilde also revealed to E! that the tensions between the two are high enough that “they have minimal communication and it’s done digitally or thru assistants… The only thing discussed is the kids and their schedules.”
The two Hollywood stars met on the set of Saturday Night Live and had been together since 2011. They shared a very long engagement before calling it quits in 2020. During that time, they had Otis and Daisy together. While contact between them is limited, both seem to be making the lives of their young children the main priority.
Wilde even feels even closer to her kiddos. “It’s allowed for some really deep conversations with my kids,” she admitted to Kelly Clarkson. “Like about emotions and about happiness and about what family means and love.”
Despite all the alleged antics and drama between parents, as long as things can remain civil, we know the kids will be alright. Meanwhile, both Wilde and Sudeikis have been involved in new relationships since—the Don’t Worry Darling director is most recently linked to co-star Harry Styles.
