Our first look at Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth in The Crown is here, and long may she reign

God save the Queen! Netflix just released the first photo of Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, and it couldn’t be more spectacular. While it’s nothing short of devastating that Claire Foy’s award-winning reign as queen has come to an end after two seasons on The Crown, this first look proves that Colman is the perfect — and only worthy — successor.

While details from Season 3 of The Crown have been kept tightly under wraps, showrunner Peter Morgan confirmed that the season will cover the time between 1964 and 1976. That means we’re likely going to see the demise of Princess Margaret and Antony Armstrong-Jones’ marriage, and the budding relationship between Prince Charles and Camilla Shand (aka his future second wife).

Colman’s debut photo, which was posted to The Crown‘s official Twitter page, features the queen sitting at her table with toast and a cup of tea, outfitted with her signature updo and staple jewelry, a brooch and pearl necklace.

We’re so here for Colman as the new Queen Elizabeth:

The caption is especially fitting, given that the series is not expected to return until 2019.

The Netflix series, which follows the British royal family throughout several decades of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, has made headlines for its decision to recast its entire principal cast with older actors every two seasons. In addition to Colman stepping in to play Queen Elizabeth for Seasons 3 and 4 of the hit Netflix series, Tobias Menzies will be taking over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith and Helena Bonham-Carter is succeeding Vanessa Kirby to play Princess Margaret.

Additionally, Ben Daniels was recently tapped to replace Matthew Goode as Antony Armstrong-Jones, and Call The Midwife star Erin Doherty to play Princess Anne, Elizabeth and Philip’s only daughter. Young adult Prince Charles has yet to be cast.

The Crown Season 3 will likely debut in 2019 on Netflix.
