If you have an old iPod, it could be worth thousands now

If you’re somewhat of a tech collector/hoarder and happen to still have your original iPod circa 2001, you might be able to sell it for a lot of money.

Vintage iPods, along with rare VHS tapes and old computers, are now worth thousands of dollars, according to Yahoo Finance.

Sellers on eBay are listing their factory-sealed first and second generation iPods (and iPhones) for upwards of $20,000. Like this iPod listed for $18,000 and this unopened first generation iPhone listed for $25,000.

Obviously the rarer the item and the better the condition it’s in, the more money it’ll be worth.

But keep in mind — just because an old tech item is listed for thousands of dollars, doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll sell for thousands of dollars. Unless of course it does, in fact, sell. Like one rare model that sold for $90,000 in 2014. That’s some serious iPod dedication.

The collection of Apple paraphernalia doesn’t seem to be something that will ever get old. Even an old iPod brochure is listed for $49 on eBay!

To put things in perspective: The first ever iPod was sold in 2001 for $399, which is double the price of iPods today. What’s crazy is that the iPods aren’t even that old. Imagine what they’ll be worth in another 15+ years? If the nostalgia levels continue at this pace, you might be able to sell your old school iPod and pay for a college education. Or, you know, buy a house or two. Maybe.
