Okay, so Victoria Beckham’s “Carpool Karaoke” appearance wasn’t *quite* what it seemed, but it was still EPIC
While we were super excited that a Spice Girl was going to be taking part in Carpool Karaoke, it seems that Victoria Beckham’s appearance on the segment wasn’t *quite* what we were expecting…
It was teased yesterday (March 30th) that Victoria Beckham would be joining James Corden for his insanely popular Carpool Karaoke segment, which originated on The Late Late Show but now has its own Apple Music spinoff show, too.
Of course, with news that a Spice Girl would be doing Carpool Karaoke, we got particularly excited. We know that we’ve sung all of the Spice Girls’ biggest hits in the car SO many times, that we’re 100% certain that they’d make great sing-a-long songs. In fact, during Adele’s Carpool segment, she sang “Wannabe,” and one of our earliest memories is sitting in the back of the car singing to the Spice Girls on cassette tape.

Well, it seems that our dreams of a full out and out slice of Spice heaven might have been scuppered (for now, at least), as Victoria Beckham’s Carpool Karaoke wasn’t *quite* what we were expecting.
No, it seems that rather than appearing in a full blown segment alongside James Corden, VB had was actually filming something completely different (although fear not as there is indeed some Spice Girls magic).
Rather than driving around L.A. singing songs like “Mama,” “2 Become 1,” and “Holler,” Victoria Beckham and James Corden actually filmed a fake trailer for a remake of Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall’s 1987 movie Mannequin.
The clip, which to be fair is pretty hilarious, sees Victoria Beckham take the role of the mannequin, while James Corden attempts to find her some mannequin friends. Corden, of course, can see Victoria Beckham, whereas everyone else can only see, well, a mannequin.
If you were wondering why Victoria Beckham ended up teasing that she was doing Carpool Karaoke, however, you’ll be pleased to know that the pair *do* partake in a bit of singing together. In fact, it’s a pretty great Carpool segment, even if it does last just a few seconds.
Dressed in a crisp white shirt (very Victoria), the pair give “Spice Up Your Life” their best go. Of course, to fit in with the trailer, all a fellow driver can see is James Corden enthusiastically singing with a dummy…

While it might not necessarily have been what we were expecting, given that VB has said that she’s not too keen on a Spice Girls reunion it’s nice to see her (semi)belt out one of her former hits.
Meanwhile, the fashion designer opened up about her eldest son Brooklyn heading off to college, and got pretty emotional about the whole thing.
Speaking to James Corden, she explained that she was just so proud of him
“He wants to be a photographer. He’s so passionate about what he does … I’m just really proud,” she said. “My baby’s going to college.”
Awww! Now, is there any chance that you’d return to The Late Late Show, Victoria, to record a full Carpool Karaoke?
