Oh gosh, Sookie’s going to have a bigger role in the “Gilmore Girls” revival than we thought
Where where you on April 7th, 2016? That’s the day it was announced that after much back and forth, Melissa McCarthy would, in fact, return to the role of Sookie on Gilmore Girls and ALL THE YAS!!
Since this news broke, we’ve been reminded, again and again, that McCarthy is a very busy ~movie star~ and while it’d be great to have her, and Sookie, back for all four episodes of A Year In A Life, she came in for juuuust onneeee day before the revival wrapped shooting (in McCarthy’s words, she was “squeezed” in). But hey, a little Sookie is better than no Sookie, right?
Well, brace yourself, because we might actually be getting more Sookie than we initially anticipated. According to IMDB, a pretty solid source for always figuring out who’s been in what, McCarthy isn’t just showing up for one scene in one episode, she’s actually going to be in TWO episodes.
From what we know, though it hasn’t truly been confirmed, McCarthy was just hanging around set for that one day. But it’s entirely possibly that she filmed MULTIPLE scenes over the course of this one day, and they’re going to end up in not one, but two different episodes of the revival!! This is major news, considering we were slowly coming to grips with the fact that Sookie WOULDN’T be back in Stars Hollow.
This also means that she’s probably going to play a bigger role than we originally thought, since this gives her way more opportunities to interact with Lorelai and Rory (and probably Luke, and Emily…and Logan, Jess, and Dean). MORE Sookie is always better than NO Sookie, so bring it. We’ll be waiting. Only 115 days to go!
