It’s official: Selena Gomez looks amazing as a blonde
Earlier today, Selena Gomez tricked us into thinking she chopped her hair and got short, wispy bangs by posting cryptic photos on Instagram Stories. Turns out, Selena actually went blonde. The whole shorter hair and bangs story was a MIRAGE. I am loving this new trickster Selena Gomez! Arriving at the 2017 AMAs in a tiny leather jacket dress (Coach, naturally), Gomez looked confident and effortlessly cool, carrying a matching leather clutch and wearing Roberto Coin diamond earrings.
But let’s get back to what is most important: her hair. Keeping her shoulder-length hair basically as is, Gomez went not-quite-platinum blonde with medium brown roots (less trips to the salon, smart). Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the first time Gomez has gone all the way blonde — and I am LIVING for it. What better way to introduce the New You than by bleaching your hair?
If you, too, want hair like Gomez’s, you’ll have to message hairstylists Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri, owners of the salon Nine Zero One. According to Bustle, stylist Marissa Marino helped perfect the color and cut. Gomez’s makeup is also perfection — HG office manager and makeup artist Iris Barber pointed out that instead of going heavy with eyeliner and mascara, Gomez’s makeup artist Hung Vanngo likely tightlined her lashes. Going for a more understated, fresh-faced look, Hung Vango concentrated on bold brows, rose-nude lips, and dewy skin. The main attraction here is Gomez’s blonde hair, and it’s evident.
Bottom line? Selena Gomez was pure fire tonight.
Performing the first time since her kidney transplant, Gomez sang “Wolves,” her new single with Marshmello. Using an ACTUAL CAR as a prop for the song, Gomez slicked her hair back so it looked wet and wore fake blood on her forehead and knees. Since “Wolves” is about, I guess, traveling with wild animals and getting up to some crazy stuff to get to who I am assuming is Justin Bieber (“I’ve been running through the jungle/I’ve been running with the wolves/to get to you, to get to you”), Gomez’s AMA performance setup is on point and the perfect amount of drama.
Now let’s hope Gomez drops her new album soon, because I can only have “Wolves” stuck in my head for so long.
