We might seriously be getting a comedy movie about the Obama White House

We could definitely use some political comedy these days. Luckily, we might be getting a movie about the Obama White House. Universal Pictures and Anonymous Content are working together to adapt a book proposal, From the Corner of the Oval, by a former White House stenographer, Becky Dorey-Stein. Universal Pictures optioned the book after Random House Publishing Group division Spiegel & Grau picked up a two-book deal from Dorey-Stein.

Don’t expect any juicy secrets from the book. Dorey-Stein isn’t delving into any administration secrets. She focuses on the White House as a workplace and on the relationships between the staffers.

Kind of like mixing Veep and The West Wing with Obama, which definitely sounds like something we’d watch.

The producer of the movie will be Anonymous Content’s Michael Sugar, who also produced Spotlight. It won both Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay at the 2016 Oscars, so we know the film will be in good hands!

From the Corner of the Oval follows a young woman living in Washington, D.C. who is at an all-time career low. She then goes from serving cocktails to lobbyists to being hired as a stenographer in the White House. The book doesn’t come out until 2018. And there is no schedule for filming or when the release date will be. In the meantime, we’ll have to guess what we’ll see. Maybe we’ll get an in-depth look at the Obama-Biden bromance. We can only hope.
