Obama said “men have been getting on my nerves lately,” because America’s dad doesn’t mince words
Leave it to former president Barack Obama to throw some serious shade — in the best way possible. The former POTUS is visiting South Africa, where he’s made a series of speeches. And in a talk for young African leaders on Wednesday, July 18th, Obama explained why he’s not currently happy with his fellow men.
“Women in particular, by the way, I want you to get more involved. Because men have been getting on my nerves lately,” Obama said in his speech, as seen in footage tweeted by CNN. “Every day I read the newspaper, and I just think — brothers, what’s wrong with you guys? What’s wrong with us? Alright?”
He continued, “I mean we’re violent; we’re bullying — you know, just not handling our business,” Obama said. “So I think empowering more women on the continent, that right away is going to lead to some better policies.”
Obama was a major advocate for women throughout his presidency. He signed the The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act for financial equality, and he founded the White House Council on Women and Girls, which made sure that federal agencies take women and girls’ needs into account during every move they make, Global Citizen reported.
