This very NSFW “SNL” sketch about feminism and getting hit on at a bar is hilariously relatable
It’s the weekend. You’ve agreed to go out with your friends instead of slouching around and Netflix-ing. You’ve found the perfect outfit, your makeup (if you choose to wear it!) looks fab and you’re ready to take on the bar like you own it. It’s inevitable that you’ll have a great time…until he walks up. We all know this type. He’s a super “nice” guy until you reject him. Saturday Night Live writers (who have been killing it lately!) embraced this concept and made a sketch about a bar, feminism, and fragile masculinity.
It’s so relatable it hurts.
Michelle, played by Cecily Strong, arrives at the bar before her friend does. While she’s waiting, a slew of men approach her at the bar. They attest to not being sleazy and sell themselves by one being more feminist than the last. Pussy hats aside, there’s only one way to treat a lady.
Hint: It’s not calling her names when she rejects you.

Let this be a lesson to all. You can engage someone in conversation, maybe even buy them a drink, but we’re all adults here and no means no. Rejection is hard, but being an asshole makes life even harder!
Of course, this isn’t the first time SNL has ventured into the waters of feminism, modern dating, and weird gender role stuff. We couldn’t stop laughing last year at this amazing “Not a Feminist Song.” We also loved this sardonic riff on boys’ gender roles. SNL continues to be the best place for satire (and Nice Guys.)
