Now is the best time to visit Spain — here’s why

Europe is on sale, and few countries are more steeply discounted than Spain, which is having something of a moment.

According to the Airfare Spot, travelers spread along the East Coast — in Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, and Boston — can find very affordable round-trip flights to Ibiza (think: $392 round-trip). Availability is concentrated in May, and September through November.

Earlier this week, Scott’s Cheap Flights reported round-trip fares to cities across Spain for as little as $324. Destinations reachable for under $400 include Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, and Malaga.

It’s not just good flight deals that make now a great time to visit Spain.

The country just snagged the top spot on the bi-annual World Economic Forum’s “Travel and Tourism Competiveness Report,” which ranks countries on everything from visa requirements to number of airport departures. Spain got top marks for health and hygiene, tourist services, and cultural resources.

Other reasons to book a trip to Spain now? A weak euro.
