Mom gets a cruel note about her crying baby in restaurant. Manager sticks up for her in the best way

Taking your young child out to eat isn’t always the easiest endeavor – especially when said child is too young to understand how their behavior affects others.

Mom Katie Leach knows exactly what this is like, especially since her 10-month-old son screams when he wants to express himself —especially when he’s feeling joyful. “He will yell when I tell him no, when he’s super excited and happy or just for no reason at all,” she told KTVB two days ago. “I’m doing my best to teach him indoor voice and to not yell back at me when telling him no etc, But he is only 10 (almost 11 months) and learning.”

Unfortunately, this became a problem when mother and son went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse in Nampa. Throughout the meal, the young boy would periodically yell as this mom did her best to control him. “We all tried quieting him down which a majority of the time he did but he also was so excited to be around all the commotion,” Leach explained. “He was not yelling to be mean or because he was mad, it was purely from excitement and being happy.”

Even though the 10-month-old didn’t mean any harm, two customers were extremely upset. They took the time to write a note that read, “Thank you for ruining our dinner with your screaming kid. Sincerely, the table behind you,” and placed it on Leach’s table.

To rectify the situation, the mom went over to the two women to justify her son’s behavior. She explained that he’s too young to understand what he’s doing and that he’s in the process of learning to be better. She went on to state that she could understand their frustration if her son was older and should know better. In response, one of the women simply stated that her own grandchildren never act out. Since her explanation did not satisfy the diners, Leach spoke to the manager. She described exactly what happened and – since he has two children of his own and could sympathize – the overseer politely asked the two women to finish their dinner and then leave the establishment. He also apologized to Leach, paid for her meal, and said that her family’s always welcome at the restaurant.   The company even took it a step further by making this public announcement: “We’re in the hospitality business. We want all our guests to have a great experience,” said Texas Roadhouse spokesman Travis Doster. “We were voted one of the loudest restaurants by Consumer Reports.  We are proud to be loud. If you want to hear clinking wine glasses and clinking forks, then this probably isn’t the place for you.” As for the general public, many are debating this situation. Some believe that Leach should have left the restaurant, while others feel that she had the right to stay.

As for us, we’re just happy to hear that one human being looked after another during a tense situation. After all, a little bit of kindness can go a long way – especially when someone is trying their best.

Faith in humanity: restored.
