Not okay: Kristin Cavallari’s children were body-shamed on Instagram
Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County‘s Kristin Cavallari is known for posting adorable photos of her family – which includes two little boys and a girl – on Instagram. However, things took an unfortunate turn when Kristin shared her Fourth of July vacation with the 2.2 million people who follow her on the social media platform
“Even though we’re not in the states, we’re still celebrating,” she wrote, captioning a photo of her 2-year-old and 3-year-old sons Jaxon and Camden playing in the water at the beach.
However, not everyone decided to see Kristin’s image as an innocent moment with her sons. Soon after the photo was posted, many began to comment that Cavallari’s boys were too thin. One commenter wrote, “Seeing pictures of your boys and how they look is a bit shocking to see! I know you cook healthy but to see the bones just doesn’t seem normal, sorry!”
What’s normal for one child (or parent) may not be “normal” for another. That’s why it’s never okay to comment on another’s body type. As long as Kristin’s boys are happy and healthy (according to an actual doctor, instead of countless internet commenters), no one should feel the need to shame them (or their mother) for their physical appearance.
The former Laguna Beach star chose not to remove the picture, but instead went through the comment section with a fine-toothed comb and blocked the people who, well, needed blocking. Kristen then posted her own comment later, which read, “Yep, I starve my children. Just blocked the most people I’ve ever blocked in my entire life. Happy 4th hahaha”
We’re happy to see Kristen’s spirit and her humor intact. Not that we expect anything less from her.
Other commenters came to the Kristin’s defense, stating that other parents had no business criticizing her child’s body and her parenting skills. “Grow up & don’t judge as you don’t know the facts,” Instagrammer weejules73 wrote.
Have a seat, haters. This family looks perfectly content without all your body-shaming.
