Normani channeled Mariah Carey at the 2018 BET Awards, and she slayed the iconic ’90s ensemble
Beyoncé, Shakira, Cher — some entertainers are just so iconic and their performances so show-stopping that they only need one name. We can certainly add Normani to that list. Though Fifth Harmony has taken a hiatus, the singer has made it clear: She’s here to stay. But she’s also slaying the red carpets, including with her latest outfit at the 2018 BET Awards. Did you notice anything interesting about her ensemble? We sure did. Normani channeled Mariah Carey’s 1997 MTV Video Music Awards fashion look during the 2018 BET Awards on June 24th.
While many celebs opted for color on the carpet, Normani kept her look monochromatic with a black top and maxi skirt. However, her outfit was far from boring. She added some major sex appeal, thanks to the super high slit that traveled alllll the way up her left thigh. Even down to the black strappy heels, Normani didn’t miss any detail with her look that paid homage to Mimi.

From the top to the slit to the ankle strap and black high heels, the Fifth Harmony singer really channeled Mariah. Normani’s outfit was topped off with sleek hair, a bold brow, nude lip, and long gold earrings. Back in the ’90s, Mariah gave us a side swept bang and loose curls while Normani wore her hair bone straight. Either way, they both looked amazing.
