This artist reimagined the Wizarding World with a Nordic mythology twist

With last week’s MAJOR news out of the Wizarding World — like you’re ever going to forget it, but it was the names and locations of four brand new magical schools — we’ve spent the better part of the last few days daydreaming about which one would be the BEST to attend (but they’re all the best, come on). Now, let’s add one more to the list, and even though this isn’t an ~official~ Wizarding School, we want to go to there.

Blizzard Entertainment artist Even Amundsen has been diligently creating his very own wizarding world, set in Nordic territory. Over the past year, he’s created a whole crew of characters for the school, which he’s named Vølurheim, and detailed the subjects they teach. Their subjects range from the typical Charms, Cruses, and Dragon Care, but then there are subjects like Healing Arts and Ancient Blood Magic. You can’t take those at Hogwarts.

“I finished the Harry Potter books (again) not so long ago, and got the idea that it was incredibly unfair that we didn’t have a school for the magical arts in Scandinavia,” Amundsen writes on DeviantArt. “I mean, if they can see fit to open such establishments in England, France and Bulgaria, I think it only fair we have one up north as well.” And when you want something created in the Wizarding World, sometimes you have to do it yourself.
