Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime Lannister) spoke about what to expect between him and Cersei in Season 7 of “Game of Thrones”

It sounds like things are about to get super complicated between Jamie and Cersei Lannister when Game of Thrones returns for Season 7.

Given that we now know when Game of Thrones is finally returning (it’s July 16th, fyi), it’s safe to say that we’re pretty pumped to return to Westeros. Of course we know that Season 7 (and now Season 8) of the show will be shorter than usual, with just seven episodes instead of the usual 10, which means that the drama is going to have to be tightly packed (and you know there’s gonna be a lot of drama given that we’re heading into the show’s home run).

Well, teasing some of the drama is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jamie Lannister on the show.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Coster-Waldau teased that things between Cersei and Jamie would become more complicated (if possible) when Game of Thrones returns.

Jaime’s addicted to something—almost institutionalized by a situation to where there is no other way. For Jaime, there is no other way. He’s been groomed since he was 15 that, whatever his life is, it starts and ends with Cersei,” he said. “He has to accommodate her. He’s done that his whole life, and he’s reached a moment now where he suddenly has to address it.”

Continuing, he teased what fans could expect after last season’s shocking finale.

"[Jamie's] not like his sister and brother, but he’s been on the battlefield his whole life, and knows about people’s weaknesses and loving someone unconditionally—because he loves his sister unconditionally. Plus, there are no other suitors. Well, that’s not true… but he has to step up and take his father’s place," he said, before adding: "Wow, I was about to reveal something from Season 7 and thought, 'What am I doing?'"

Hmm…color us intrigued.

Coster-Waldau also spoke about Jamie’s relationship with Brienne of Tarth.

“It’s built out of contempt, which has turned into real respect, and love—not that they would ever use that word. I think they feel very strongly for each other,” he said. “I have no idea if they would ever be able to act on it, and I don’t think they would. It’s all been about Cersei his whole life.”

Tbh, we’d love to see Jamie and Brienne get together as things progressed. There’s also a theory that Jamie will kill Cersei to protect Brienne, which is a theory that seems to have some weight behind it.

Regardless, there’s not too long to wait now until Game of Thrones returns to our screens and all of these mysteries are revealed.
