Has Nicole Kidman ever won an Oscar? She certainly deserves it

The 90th Annual Academy Awards are underway tonight, March 4th. Although we always love watching the winners accept their well-deserved prizes, we enjoy watching the other stars in attendance just as much. And although she isn’t nominated, one of our favorites, Nicole Kidman, will present an award at the 2018 ceremony, making us wonder: Has she ever won an Oscar?

This year, Kidman is on the list of presenters, but she didn’t net any nominations. In 2017, however, the Australian actress was nominated for her role in Lion, and her gorgeous, statuesque gown was as unforgettable as her performance. Last year wasn’t Kidman’s first rodeo; she has been nominated four times in total. In addition to her Best Supporting Actress nomination for Lion, she has received Best Actress nods for Rabbit Hole, The Hours, and Moulin Rouge.

And Kidman is indeed the proud owner of a gold statuette.

Kidman received the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2003 for her role in The Hours. The movie, which was an adaptation of the Virginia Woolf novel Mrs. Dalloway, starred Kidman as the Queen of Bloomsbury, a role for which she had to wear a large prosthetic nose.

But despite the fact that winning an Oscar is a huge achievement, Kidman said that the moment was bittersweet for her. In November, the Big Little Lies star told Stephen Colbert on The Late Show that, since she had split with her husband, Tom Cruise, two years before winning her Oscar, she was “not in a great place” at the time.

Thankfully, the actress is now in a happy marriage with country singer Keith Urban and has continued to be honored for her acting. In September, she won two Emmy awards for her performance in Big Little Lies and used her acceptance speech to speak out against domestic abuse. Her performance in the show also led her to win the 2018 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Limited Series.

Kidman is an incredible actress, so we’re glad to see that she has been honored by an Academy Award. We wish all of this year’s nominees good luck, and we can’t wait to see who the winners are.
