Nicole Kidman will play a detective in “Destroyer,” and we’re so in for this crime thriller
One of our favorite types of entertainment news is good casting news, TBH. And t doesn’t get better than Nicole Kidman heading up an L.A. crime thriller.
The film is called Destroyer, and not only will it star one of our favorite ladies — it will be directed by one of our favorite ladies, too! Karyn Kusama, director of Aeon Flux and Jennifer’s Body will helm this upcoming film, and we’re all for getting more women behind the camera, so this is definitely a win.
According to Deadline, Destroyer’s plot goes as follows:
"The pic follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell (Kidman) who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a cult-like gang in the California desert with tragic results. "When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past."
Nicole Kidman is coming in hot after nabbing two Emmys for Big Little Lies.
(To keep her Oscar company, obvs…) So we’re pretty excited for Destroyer. Not just because we love watching Nicole Kidman do her (pretty remarkable) thing. But also because with her recent successes, we sort of feel like she must have her pick of projects. And we totally believe in her to pick another winner.
We don’t know when this film is slated to be released yet. But suffice it to say, we’re keeping our eyes peeled for every conceivable update!
