Nick Offerman just got real about his decision to change his body for a role

Nick Offerman recently had to change his diet for an upcoming role, and the best way to describe it is saying that he ate all the bacon and eggs there were. Stopping by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Offerman brought along some of his favorite “fatty meats” that helped him prepare him for a role in the play A Confederacy of Dunces, which yes, I cannot stop reading as “Cones of Dunshire.”

For this new role, Offerman plays a “very fat man” and since he’s committed to his characters, he decided to pack on the pounds naturally by enjoying such things as bratwurst and a side salad. But note: The side salad is actually Wisconsin cheese curds. You know, as Ron Swanson once said, he will not eat “food that my food eats.” No leafy greens. He’s not a rabbit.

There’s also the turducken — a chicken, inside a duck, inside a turkey — and Offerman is more than happy to offer up drink pairings for these meals, too. Like, for the turduken, you drink a single malt scotch. Are you taking notes? Because he’s planning Thanksgiving dinner for us right now.

It’s one thing to talk about all of this, and it’s another to have Fallon eat some of it with him. In an adorable Lady and the Tramp send off, these two guys enjoy a romantic sausage smothered in sauerkraut, as good friends do. Check out the video below, which is sure to make your mouth water.
