Nick Cannon Marks One-Year Anniversary of Son’s Death with Heartfelt Tribute
Child loss is "the heaviest, most dark and depressive experiences that I will never get over,” he said.
As Nick Cannon and model Alyssa Scott prepare to welcome their second child together, they’re also taking a moment to honor their late son, Zen. The infant died of a brain tumor this time last year. He was just five-months-old.
In a heartfelt tribute shared to Instagram, the Masked Singer host detailed his feelings surrounding the “painful anniversary.” Cannon coupled the post with snaps of Zen, including a black and white father-son photo of the two boys.
“Physically I’m definitely on the mend but Mentally and Spiritually I’m broken,” Cannon penned. “Been tossing and turning all night, and as much as I know I need rest, last night I couldn’t sleep at all. I can’t believe it’s been a year already since the toughest day of my life occurred. Such a painful anniversary.”
“Losing a child has to be the heaviest, most dark and depressive experiences that I will never get over. A mixture of guilt, pain, and sorrow is what I suppress daily,” Cannon continued.
While some may not agree with the decisions he’s made in life, the soon-to-be dad of 12 admitted, one thing is for certain: Cannon has a big, big heart. “I love hard, I love big and I love with my entire Heart and Soul and I just wish my Little Man could’ve felt more of that love while he was here on Earth,” he wrote.
The Wild ‘n Out host signed off asking for prayers as he and Scott weather this painful storm. “Continue to Peacefully Rest My Son, Zen Scott Cannon. We Love you Eternally ❤️🩹🙏🏾,” he concluded.
Though December is a hard time for the pair, they’re also in the midst of nesting mode as they eagerly await the arrival of their second child together. This will be Scott’s third child; she’s also mom to daughter Zeela, age 4.
The newest addition will make for baby number 12 for Cannon, who already shares 11 kids with six different women, including Scott and ex-wife Mariah Carey.
