If you missed yesterday’s March For Our Lives protests, millions of people attended anti-gun-violence rallies around the world, and we were seriously inspired. Organized by the young survivors of the Parkland, Florida school shooting, the event was powerful proof that so many of us want gun control reform in order to help put an end to senseless gun violence. And while many of the speakers were themselves survivors of gun violence, the organizers behind March For Our Lives also included young people whose lives have been impacted by gun violence in other ways. One such speaker was Yolanda Renee King, the granddaughter of Coretta Scott King and Martin Luther King Jr.

The 9-year-old spoke during the main March For Our Lives event in Washington, D.C., after being led onstage by Jaclyn Corin, another speaker and survivor of the Parkland shooting.

And the result was totally chill-inducing.

Yolanda then led the crowd in a chant that was beyond powerful:

You can watch Yolanda Renee King’s speech here:

We’re simply in awe of Yolanda Renee King and the countless other young people who stepped up to speak out. While the March For Our Lives might be over, the movement toward a better future is only beginning.

Even if you weren’t able to attend a march yourself, you can still do your part to help end gun violence. Get started by texting the word “FIGHT” to 50409 to register to vote and help us create a safer world for future generations.
