Ava DuVernay’s adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s classic novel, A Wrinkle in Time, isn’t even out yet, but it’s already had a huge impact. It’s a film that empowers young people to be brave and to bring light into dark places of the world. And its powerful message is paired with a beautifully diverse cast. It hasn’t taken long for people to understand what an important film A Wrinkle in Time is, prompting some to buy blocks of tickets to allow children to see the movie for free.

And such an important movie had to have an equally important soundtrack.

DuVernay managed to enlist Sade for the Wrinkle in Time soundtrack, and we just got our first listen. Sade had been on a hiatus for about 15 years, so it’s not surprising that the internet collectively lost its minds over her big return to music with “Flower of the Universe.”

It only helps that the song is utterly beautiful, and highlights Sade’s soulful voice.

It also has a vital, uplifting message, which you can see in the “Flower of the Universe” lyrics via

The entire song isn’t available yet, but you can give it a listen when the soundtrack drops on March 9th, the same day the film lands in theaters.

Until then, you can get a taste of this gorgeous song in this portion via The Style Journal:

This song is important and beautiful, and highlights the importance of love in the midst of darkness. It’s so wonderful that everything about this movie—from the diverse cast, the story, and even the soundtrack—is meant to empower audiences.

We can’t wait to see A Wrinkle in Time and listen to this soundtrack on repeat come March 9th.
