If there’s one thing that must end, it’s fat-shaming. Yet, it still happens. All the time. An Illinois woman shared an emotional video after being fat-shamed by a group of men while quietly enjoying an ice cream on Dairy Queen’s Free Cone Day.

Shauna Arocho shared her story, and we’re so very glad she did. In the video, she explains that she has been on the paleo diet for over a year and has lost 120 lbs (no easy feat). As a rare treat, she and her husband took advantage of Dairy Queen’s special free ice cream day. And that’s when things took a turn in a very bad direction.

We don’t understand it either, not one little bit. Emphasizing that she doesn’t hold a grudge against the people who did this to her, Arocho goes on to simply encourage others to be more thoughtful and aware of their behavior. “I think people really need to start thinking about what they’re saying and doing before they do it.” And that’s not a big ask.

Her video has now been viewed over 10 million times.

In a subsequent post, Arocho expressed her gratitude at the positive results of sharing her story. “My faith in humanity has never been higher than it is right now. Yesterday my eyes were full tears from sadness. Today, the tears are happy ones.”

Thank you for sharing your story, Shauna. We are 100% sure it has made so many people stop and think.
