Update: It was just announced that Jennifer Lawrence and Jodie Foster will present Best Actress at the 2018 Oscars, taking over for gross Casey Affleck, who was supposed to be presenting. So, it’s official. Jennifer Lawrence WILL be at the Academy Awards ceremony. Will she make it to the red carpet? Stay tuned.

Ah, awards season! The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will air this Sunday, March 4th on ABC. Following last year’s Oscars Envelopegate (one that undoubtedly haunts Jimmy Kimmel’s dreams), this year’s ceremony is bound to be interesting. Kimmel will once again host, and the ceremony will kick off at 5 p.m. PST at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Among the titles contending for Best Picture are Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water, Jordan Peele’s Get Out, Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, and Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me By Your Name (read the full list of nominees here). With presenters like Tiffany Haddish, Kumail Nanjiani, Mahershala Ali, and Laura Dern gracing the stage, we’re pretty damn excited for March 4th. Noticeably absent from the full list of presenters? Jennifer Lawrence, AKA our favorite awards ceremony and red carpet darling, because let’s face it — there’s never a dull moment with the Silver Linings Playbook actress.

So, will Jennifer Lawrence be at the 2018 Oscars?

Well, much like the Golden Globes, Lawrence wasn’t nominated for an award this year and was notably absent at the Golden Globes ceremony. So, perhaps not. And while she initially had plans to hit up some after parties with BFF Emma Stone (nominated for her role in Battle of the Sexes), it fell through. Fans will remember the hilarious video Lawrence posted of a half-done face of makeup when Stone opted for a quiet night in. Too relatable.

Perhaps Lawrence and Stone will attend some Oscars after parties this time around? Even if she’s not at the actual awards show, that doesn’t mean our 2018 Oscars experience will necessarily be Jennifer Lawrence-less. Oscar noms or not, celebrations are definitely in order — Lawrence’s latest project, the mystery spy film Red Sparrow, is set to hit theaters on March 2nd; she’ll also star in the upcoming X-Men: Dark Phoenix set for a November release.

Tune into the 2018 Oscars on March 4th on ABC.
