The political climate in the U.S. is more polarized than ever, and citizens are perhaps the most divided over their opinion of President Donald Trump. A segment on the July 19th episode of The View demonstrated this all-too-well when host Whoopi Goldberg ordered guest Judge Jeanine Pirro to leave the show.

Pirro appeared on the segment”Political View” to promote her new book, Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy. The former judge and current host of Fox News’ Justice with Judge Jeanine angered Goldberg when she accused her of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

According to People.com, Goldberg responded by saying that she’s merely “tired of starting a conversation with ‘Mexicans are liars and rapists.'”

The on-air hostility only escalated from there, with both women shouting over each other until Pirro brought up murders committed by undocumented immigrants. Pirro said that it was horrible that “people who shouldn’t be here end up murdering the children of American citizens.”

After the commercial break, Goldberg returned with an on-camera apology.

Calm, respectful dialogue can admittedly be hard in such a tense political climate (and TBH, we’d likely have trouble keeping our cool in the face of Pirro’s comments, too). If anything, this serves as a reminder to arm ourselves with the facts in the face of ignorance, and to vote in the November midterms to make sure our voices are heard.
