Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” video isn’t even out yet, but it’s already one of the most-hyped videos of the year thanks to the singers’s chick flick-themed hints. The most recent teaser, an homage to Mean Girls complete with wannabes gossiping about Grande (aka the Queen Bee herself), included YouTuber Gabi DeMartino—who bears an uncanny resemblance to the pop star.
The clip got many wondering: Who exactly is DeMartino?
According to Newsweek, the 23-year-old YouTuber makes videos alongside her sister, Niki DeMartino, on their channel Niki and Gabi. She has a whopping 2.9 million Instagram followers, and the Niki and Gabi YouTube channel has more than seven million subscribers. In the “Thank U, Next” promo, DeMartino appears as one of Grande’s groupies.
Wearing a high ponytail, winged eyeliner, and an oversized pink sweatshirt, DeMartino could pass as Grande’s twin sister.
DeMartino has also been criticized for allegedly attempting to copy Grande. In July, the YouTuber released a self-described “parody video” in which she dressed like the celebrity and attempted to live like her for a day.
Rumors swirled that Grande was not impressed with the video after she tweeted “this ain’t it” along with a clip of DeMartino attempting her laugh. But when Grande’s fans started to attack the YouTuber, she clarified that there were no hard feelings.
Now, it seems like Grande and DeMartino are getting along quite well. The two posed together on the “Thank U, Next” set, with Grande dressed in full Regina George regalia.
Needless to say, we can’t wait for the full-length “Thank U, Next” music video to drop.
