Awards season is officially upon us, and next in the lineup is the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Considered one of the most prestigious prizes in the industry, the SAG Awards focus solely on on-screen performances (as opposed to say, technical or directing awards), and are voted on by members of the Screen Actors Guild — aka, fellow actors.

The 24th annual SAG Awards will be held at the Shrine Exposition Center in Los Angeles. This is where the show has been held for most of its existence. Built in 1926, the Shrine Auditorium is one of the largest theaters on the west coast and a landmark of the Los Angeles entertainment industry.

Although the SAG Awards have generally kept with tradition, there are a few key changes this year. For the first time ever, the show will have a host: actress Kristen Bell.

Another factor? The Time’s Up movement. Although celebrities aren’t expected to don all black as they did at the Golden Globes, it’s safe to assume that both the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements will be strongly featured.

The SAG Awards air Sunday, January 21st at 8 p.m. ET on both TNT and TBS. We can’t wait to watch and see who wins big. Oh, and we double can’t wait to se Kristen Bell in action. Because we have a strong suspicion she’s going to be awesome as the first-ever host.
