In the opening minutes of The Assassination of Gianni Versace, you not only catch your first glimpses of the late fashion designer (played by Édgar Ramírez) and his killer Andrew Cunanan (Darren Criss), you’re also introduced to Versace’s mansion, a spectacularly lavish South Beach home — and it is seriously a sight to behold.

The Miami mansion may live on in infamy as the murder site of the iconic designer, who was shot just outside the gates of the estate, but it’s now a luxury hotel — and you can book a stay. While sure, it may seem a bit morbid to stay in a location best known for a tragic murder, The Villa Casa Casuarina is actually one of the hottest spots to stay in Miami.

The luxury hotel boasts 10 suites, a restaurant named after the estate’s late owner, a spa, rooftop lounge, and naturally, a courtyard complete with mosaic pool. If the shots of Ramírez as Versace walking though the gorgeous villa in the first few minutes of The Assassination of Gianni Versace didn’t make this locale an instant must-see — sweeping music by Mac Quayle not included — we don’t know what will.

But to visit, it’ll definitely cost you, as the starting rate for a room at The Villa Casa Casuarina is $899 but is often upwards of $1,199.

According to the hotel, the mansion was built in 1930 by architect Alden Freeman, who modeled it after stunning Alcazar De Colon estate built in the Dominican Republic by the son of Christopher Columbus. Versace bought the house in 1992 where he expanded the estate, adding the south wing, opulent pool, and a garden. Following Versace’s murder, the house remained vacant until 2000, when his sister Donatella sold the estate to entrepreneur Peter Loftin, who transformed the mansion into a hotel, while largely keeping it in the same vein as Versace’s lavish renovations.

The hotel, as it is operated today, has been owned by Jordache Enterprises since 2013 and, according to People, reportedly counts the Kardashians, Justin Bieber, and Drake as previous visitors. The Villa Casa Casuarina is also a hot spot for celeb-filled events, so you never know who you’re going to run into — but be sure to be dressed to the nines, and preferably in Versace (totally attainable goal). While the villa has certainly changed a lot since the famed designer called it home, the estate certainly seems to capture the magic Versace was going for in his renovations.

But if you can’t take the trip to Miami for a luxury hotel stay, luckily you can continue to swoon over the gorgeous estate in The Assassination of Gianni Versace.
