The United Nations suddenly ended Wonder Woman's female empowerment campaign
Wonder Woman has been fired, you guys. Not from our lives completely, that would be cray — but the United Nations did just drop Wonder Woman as their honorary ambassador for female empowerment. After only two months on the job, our gal’s stint will end this week.
But why would they hire her just to let her go a short two months later, you might be wondering?
Great question. You may not like the answer…
The decision to no longer have Wonder Woman represent female empowerment came after critics attributed her character with being too “overtly sexualized.” Critics include several “concerned United Nations staff members,” as well as almost 45,000 people who signed an online Care2 petition requesting Wonder Woman be removed from her duties.
So she was fired for…having breasts and wearing clothes some people don’t agree with?
Slut-shaming at its worst.
It seems as though the critics don’t understand Wonder Woman and what she represents.
Like us, many people are confused by this new development.
Perhaps naysayers should take a look at the new Wonder Woman trailer, and then decide if her breasts really are the most important part of her.
The film is set to hit theaters on June 2nd, 2017.
Wonder Woman will always be a badass, and she’ll continue to save the world, no matter who tries to stop her. And you know what? So will the rest of us.
