It's all of us: Twitter responds to the Orlando shootings
In light of the tragic shooting in Orlando this weekend, we, like so many, are turning to our friends on social media and share our love, our support, and our sadness. In the wake of the attack this morning, people are taking to Twitter to share support and kind words and drive home the fact that we’re all in this together.
This week is also Pride Week, a celebration of the LGBTQ community, in many places around the US. Since the shooting took place at a gay nightclub, the hashtag #pride2016 has also taken off on Twitter, with many wanting to share their support for our LGBTQ friends.
If you’re looking to do something to help, check out some of the many Pride events happening around the country this month; here’s a great list of events big and small. Even if you aren’t a member of the community, you can show your support for LGBTQ friends and family.
If you are in the Orlando area, blood donations are urgently needed for victims of the shooting, and the ban on LGBT donations has been temporarily lifted at some centers. Here’s a list of donation locations, although more may be added:
And if you need a hug, for just about any reason in the world, here’s one of the biggest we could find.
We’re wishing love and sending our thoughts to everyone impacted by this tragedy.
