Update, March 13th, 2020, 11:58 a.m. ET: Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson are living in quarantine after being diagnosed with coronavirus. But like our true celebrity mom and dad, they’re helping all us all through our own self-distancing with a slew of social media updates.

The couple is currently isolated in Australia, but they want to make sure the universe knows that they are doing fine, just fine.

“There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness,” Hanks wrote on an Instagram picture of him and Wilson. “We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no?”

And just to give us a little bit of extra love, Hanks threw in a reference to one of our favorite movies, A League of Their Own: “Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball.”

Wilson, for her part, seems to be having a little fun (as much as possible) in her isolation. First, let’s just say she’d rather be knocking back some cervesas.

Second, she’s gifting us all with a self-distancing or self-isolating playlist, appropriately dubbed “Quarantunes.”

Even in the midst of their own diagnoses, Mom and Dad are just looking out for us.

Original post, March 12th, 2020: Just hours after the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 a pandemic, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson announced they both had tested positive for coronavirus. First of all, don’t worry, because all reports from the Wilson-Hanks household seem to be that the couple is doing fine. Second, loads of celebrities are sending their love and support to Tom and Rita as they self-quarantine.

The pair have been spending time in Australia, where Hanks is preparing to film an upcoming Elvis Presley movie. Hanks shared a statement on social media revealing that both he and Wilson began feeling under the weather, so they were tested for coronavirus, and “were found to be positive.”

His statement—in true Tom Hanks fashion—was appropriately soothing, as he shared that the couple “felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches.” He added, “Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.”

As for what’s next, he shared, “We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!”

Instantly, the world reacted to the news that our celebrity mom and dad had coronavirus, with so many of our favorites sending love their way as they rest and recover.

On Twitter, Julia Louis-Dreyfus shared her support, writing, “Love and get well soon and come home soon to you and Rita Wilson.”

Mia Farrow wrote: “Sending you and Rita big love and wishing you both a speedy recovery.”

Ellen DeGeneres echoed their sentiments, writing: “Wishing you both a speedy recovery, and sending lots of love.”

And Hanks’ Toy Story costar, Tim Allen, responded with a photo of his character, Buzz Lightyear, in his full spacesuit, joking, “Woody, I should have made you two wear my space suits! You and Rita rest and get well!”

Hanks also posted to Instagram, where he received an equal outpouring of love (and supportive emojis, because it’s 2020 after all!) from fellow famous friends. In the comments section on his post, Reese Witherspoon wrote: “Please take care,” with a double pink heart emoji, while Jack Black said he was “sending love” with a blue heart, prayer hands, and a flexed arm muscle, because obviously.

Marlon Wayans laced his words of love and support with humor, writing, “DAMN YOU TOM!!! You always gotta be first. First Emmy winner, first Oscar winner, first Hollywood Coronavirus. That one was mine damn it! Curses 🤬 😂 get well soon brother. I love you tremendously. Praying for you and wifey.”

Josh Gad told the pair how much he loved them and added: “need you back to full health!!” Wilmer Valderrama sent along a blue heart, prayer hands, and a punched fist emoji for good measure.

As for us, well, we’re sending all our love to the couple for a speedy recovery.
