This Is Us Season 3 hasn’t even started yet, but showrunner Dan Fogelman just revealed that parts of the show’s series finale have already been filmed. Yes, you read that right. S-E-R-I-E-S finale — as in the *last ever* This Is Us episode, because all good things must come to an end…eventually. This is not an indication that the NBC family drama will be departing off the small screen soon, of course. In fact, they’re just getting started!

Fogelman dropped the bombshell at a For Your Consideration Emmy panel held at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 29th. He shared that the writers are already pretty much set on how the show will be ending, and that each subsequent season already has a corresponding plan in place. Because, you know, that’s what *good* storytellers do.

He didn’t disclose how many more This Is Us seasons are left, but it’s safe to say that they’re not keen on extending the hit show to more than 10 seasons just because of its success.

When the cast was asked if they have an idea how the show will end, Ventimiglia nonchalantly said “yep,” but Chris Sullivan seemed to be kept in the dark. “No. Will someone please tell me after?” he quipped.

Uh, does this mean that Toby won’t be part of the Pearson family’s future? THAT BETTER NOT BE THE CASE. After all, Fogelman said they only filmed *parts* of the mystery series finale, so Toby might still get in on the action. In any case, we’re just going to have to prepare ourselves for the upcoming seasons that will certainly empty our tear ducts.

This Is Us will return for its third season on NBC this fall.
