Actress Natalie Wood’s death in 1981, once considered an accidental drowning, has gained new interest since the case was reopened. On February 1st, Wood’s then-husband Robert Wagner was declared a “person of interest” in the case. But one of Wood’s daughters, Natasha Gregson Wagner, has defended him in the past. Here’s what we know about her.
1 She is also an actress.
2 She has two sisters.
Gregson Wagner is the daughter of Wood and the British agent Richard Gregson. Her mother married Robert Wagner when she two years old and added her new husband’s name to her daughter’s. Wagner had a daughter, Katie, from a previous marriage, and Wagner and Wood later had daughter together, Courtney.
3 Her mother died when she was 11.
On Good Morning America in May 2016, Gregson Wagner said that she felt guilty at the time of her mother’s death because, as an 11-year-old, she had wanted to be more independent.
4 She was raised by her stepfather, Robert Wagner
After Wood’s death, Gregson Wagner was raised by Wagner alongside his two daughters. Gregson Wagner has said that she became much closer with her stepdad as a result.
5 And she defended her stepfather.
In her interview on Good Morning America, Gregson Wagner stated that she believed Wood’s death was an accident and that Wagner did not kill Wood.
6 Gregson Wagner released a fragrance in honor of her mother.
In 2016, Gregson Wagner created a perfume with her half-sister Courtney in memory of Wood. She told People that she associated the scent Jungle Gardenia with her mother, so the fragrance was born out of her memories of that smell. The fragrance line “Natalie” built on that scent by adding notes of other flowers including freesia and orange blossom.
Wood’s death is a terrible tragedy, and we hope that investigators are able to solve this case soon. In the meantime, our hearts go out to Gregson Wagner and all of Wood’s loved ones.
