The Stranger Things cast just hinted at a Season 3 Joyce/Hopper romance
Maybe, just maybe, if we wish hard enough, “Jopper” will finally become a thing in Season 3 of Stranger Things. And it seems like fans aren’t the only ones wishing for a romance between Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper. Stranger Things castmates David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown are both rooting for Jopper in the upcoming season of Netflix’s hit ’80s nostalgia-paranormal series. And yes, our fingers, toes, legs, and arms are crossed.
Brown was responding to a recent comment Harbour made to the publication about a potential flame between his character, Jim Hopper, and Winona Ryder’s Joyce Byers. “From the very beginning,” Harbour told Variety on August 18th, “I thought that these are two tortured, messed up, beautiful people who are like puzzle pieces that can’t stand each other but actually need each other.”
Although Brown said that she couldn’t really spill any secrets, she told Variety that she’s totally “shipping Jopper.”
“Winona Ryder and David Harbor are like my parents,” Brown said. “On set, they’re like, ‘Stop running, what are you eating, why are you eating that?’ David is like, ‘Another boy?’ And in the show, if they rekindle, that means Will and Eleven will be step-siblings. I would love that because Noah [Schnapp] is my boy best friend.”
Even though we’re all on board for Jopper, both Harbour and Brown could be leading us astray on purpose (stranger things have happened, right?). We’ll just have to sit tight and pray to the Netflix gods until the show returns next year.
