31-year-old snowboarder Shaun White came to win at the 2018 Olympics and we’re not too proud to admit that watching him on the half pipe had us wondering about his personal life. Mostly though, we wanted to know who Shaun White is dating and if they were there in the crowd in PyeongChang. Well, friends, the pro snowboarder is officially off the market as he’s been dating Sarah Barthel, 34, for about five years. And she might even more badass than the extreme snowboarder.
The two made it official in 2013, meeting before White left for the Sochi Winter Olympics. While the two have been together for awhile, it doesn’t seem like the two are ready for marriage yet. White told Us Weekly: “I’m pretty happy with how things are going and I think a family is a little far out for me with so much going on, but I could see myself settling down at some point. I’ve just been so busy and wrapped up in the sport. You get this tunnel vision honestly and it’s like, friends and family and relationships, it all gets put on the sidelines.”
Barthel, who lives with White in a $1.6 million home in Laurel Canyon, is often on tour with her band, Phantogram, and she’s also just as successful as White. According to heavy, Barthel’s estimated net worth is $3 million.
She recently gave an interview with Marie Claire about her killer style and ever-changing hair — apparently she changes it up on the regular. Barthel’s been on the festival circuit, and recently spoke to the lack of women headlining bands there. She said of her music career:
Her boyfriend is all about doing his thing, too. The two time American gold medalist is ready to compete with his fellow boarders at the games, especially Japan’s Ayumu Hirano, who can do back-to-back 1440s in the halfpipe. White told NBC, “I’m excited to compete with him. He’s really pushing it, and he did an amazing combination that I’m working on myself. I don’t think we’ve seen my best run.” Hopefully, we will soon.
